Silent Front / A Clean Kitchen Is A Happy Kitchen - Split 10"
Kingston based Silent Front provide, in my opinion, their best offerings yet! Tactic A is all choppy riffs and strangled calls and absolutely incredible drumming, but then comes Plunder, the absolute stand out track. Between a thundering bass line and squalls of barely controlled noise coming from the guitar, you don't have time to notice the staccato riffs and pounding drums, hence the need for repeated listens to get it all! Simply stunning.
International (!) A Clean Kitchen Is A Happy Kitchen are a more unsettling listen, taking their time with an 8 minute sprawling meander through scatty drums and building feedback before breaking into psych-pop riffs and Mahavishnu-esque drums and riffs all before settling into a bass heavy groove for the final couple of minutes. Odd, unsettling and ultimately very satisfying.
